As Jesus prepares to ride into Jerusalem on a donkey colt, He speaks honestly to his disciples, “My time has come. I must do the will of my Father in heaven. I know you have many questions, and there will be time for those. But for now … will you come with me?”

Peter responds with conviction: “Lord, where else would we go? You alone have the words of eternal life” [1:02:45-1:03:39 min].

What do you think Jesus means when he asks, “Will you come with me?”

What are “the words of eternal life”?

Throughout Scripture, we see moments where following Jesus becomes difficult—moments when people must decide whether to stay or walk away. Let’s read John 6:53-69.

John 6:53-69

53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.

57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you?

62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!

63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.

64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”

In this passage, why do some people turn away from Jesus?
Why do others choose to remain?
What does Jesus mean when he says, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing”?
What passages in Scripture help you understand what it means to deepen your faith?

Deepening faith is not just about gaining clarity or understanding. It is about choosing trust, even when questions remain.

Have you ever experienced a season when following Jesus felt hard or unclear?
What helped you hold on to your faith in that time?
How do you personally respond to Jesus’ invitation: “Will you come with me?”
What does saying yes to that invitation look like in your daily life?
Is there a step of trust Jesus might be inviting you to take right now?

Power is being challenged; questions and disagreements are spreading. The Sanhedrin’s authority is shaken. Things unfold very different from what anyone expected. God is moving—but many religious leaders resist his plan.

Yet they cannot ignore what happened to Lazarus or the testimonies of people like Veronica and Jesse. Veronica sums it up well when she says, “He is the Christ. And instead of embracing his power, you feel threatened by it, because he will be your authority when he is King” [4:47-06:14 min]. As Passover approaches and tension fills Jerusalem, Joanna and Claudia watch and wonder at it all. Faith draws Joanna in—even before she fully understands it.

Is there an experience in your life, like Jesse’s or Veronica’s, that you can point to and say Jesus was involved?

The Bible is filled with stories of people who stepped out in faith while much around them remained unclear. Again and again, we see how the faith of some becomes an invitation for others. Let’s read Hebrews 11.

Hebrews 11

1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

2 This is what the ancients were commended for.

3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

4 By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

5 By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.” For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise.

10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

11 And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise.

12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

13 All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.

14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.

15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.

16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son,

18 even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”

19 Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.

21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.

22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.

23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.

25 He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.

26 He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.

27 By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.

28 By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

29 By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

31 By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

32 And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets,

33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,

34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.

35 Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection.

36 Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.

37 They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—

38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.

39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised,

40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

What stands out to you in this chapter?

As Joanna and Claudia watch the crowds, Claudia asks a piercing question, “What if it cost you something dear, would you still believe?” [43:14-43:59 min]. That question moves faith from ideas to real life.

Who has been an example of faith for you? How has their faith shaped yours?
How would you personally answer Claudia’s question?
What might following Jesus cost you—and what keeps you going?
How do you discern what is needed in a specific moment as you live out your faith with others?
What is one small way your faith could become more visible this week?

Jesus sends Zee and Matthew to retrieve a donkey colt. When the owner’s servant hears their explanation, his response is unexpected—open, glad and full of trust and anticipation.

As soon as Zee and Matthew leave with the colt, the servant jumps on his horse and begins telling others what has happened.

What stands out to you about the servants’ reaction?
Have you ever seen someone trust God’s work without fully understanding it?

When the servant asks why they are taking the colt, Zee explains their mission and quotes a prophecy from Zechariah. Let’s read Zechariah 9:9, Matthew 21:1-9 and 2 Peter 1:16-21.

What does Zechariah’s prophecy reveal about who Jesus is and what kind of king he would be?
What does Peter teach us about the nature of prophecy in his letter?
What does Peter mean when he says the prophetic message is like “a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts”?
What place do biblical prophecies have in your personal faith and in your faith community today?

In this episode, we see Shmuel struggling to accept the path Jesus is taking. He knows the Scriptures well, but wrestles with the idea of the Messiah identifying with the lowest and most overlooked.

Jesus points him to Micah, reminding him that the heart of God’s law is justice, mercy and humility (Micah 6:8). Then Jesus goes even further, saying that loving others as he loves them is what will truly mark his followers.

Shmuel is so close, but unable to let go of the framework he has always known. In contrast, Zee and the servant quote Zechariah together. They do not understand everything, but they recognise that God is at work. Prophecy is being fulfilled, and their response is joy and expectation.

Where might your expectations of how things should be prevent you from seeing what God is doing right now? How can you grow in discerning God’s movement, even when you don’t fully understand it yet?
What does it mean for you today to love one another as Jesus has loved you?
This week, read one Old Testament prophecy about Jesus and ask: What does this reveal about God’s heart? Pray for openness, not just to understand Scripture, but to recognise how God wants to reveal himself to you today.

Mary uses all of her savings—more than a full year’s wages—to buy a bottle of costly nard for Jesus. When the seller questions her choice, Mary responds, “This is for the most important King the world has ever known” [09:32-12:43 min]. Her words reveal how deeply she understands who Jesus is. For Mary, only the very best is worthy of him.

What stands out to you about Mary’s decision?
What does her action reveal about how she sees Jesus?

Mary’s actions express what she believes about Jesus. In Scripture, we see the deeper meaning behind her costly gift and how Jesus responds to her devotion. Let’s read John 12:1-11.

What does this passage reveal about Mary, Jesus and the people around them?
Why do you think Jesus responds so strongly in defence of Mary?
In another Gospel, Jesus says this story will be told from generation to generation. Why do you think he considered this moment so important?
How can Mary’s act of devotion inspire you in your faith journey?

Mary has to fight for the oil she wants. The seller tries to steer her toward cheaper alternatives, but Mary refuses to settle. She is convinced that only the very best is good enough for Jesus—and she pays for it with more than a year’s worth of savings. Her story is still being told today.

How does Mary’s story encourage or challenge you?
When it comes to giving something to the highest King, where are you tempted to settle for “cheap oil”?
What might following Jesus cost you: time, comfort, control, reputation?
How do you express your devotion to Jesus through actions?
How can you put your devotion into action this week?
